Ministries

ALTAR SERVERS: Boys and girls in 3rd grade or older may serve at the altar for weekend Masses, weddings and other liturgical celebrations.  Training takes place each fall. Call (617-696-2462) or email John or Dorene Walsh  

ARIMATHEANS: As Joseph of Arimathea helped to bury Jesus, arimatheans serve at all parish funerals as procession leaders, Altar Servers, Lectors and Eucharistic Ministers.

ARTS & ENVIRONMENT: Members of this ministry are responsible for the enhancement of the liturgical environment.  They provide appropriate articles, banners, backdrops, flowers and plants seasonally, especially on feast days and for special events. Call Clara McKay  (617-696-9623)

 BAPTISMAL CATECHESIS: One Thursday night each month, meet with new parents to help them prepare for Baptism and raising their children in the Catholic faith. Call (617-696-0120) or email Harry Feldmann

CARING CIRCLE: This ministry connects those in need with those who can help. It offers an innovative and effective way for you to stay in touch with fellow Christians and provide assistance where it is needed.  Once you join the Circle, you will be contacted by email as requests are received.  You decide if and when you can help.  Find out more.  Call (617-696-9546) or email Pat Kelleher.

EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS: assist the presiding priest during Mass in the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ.  They may also bring the Eucharist to homebound parishioners on First Fridays.  Call (617-696-3154) or email Paul McCarthy  

GREETERS:  represent the Church as ambassadors, welcoming parishioners and extending assistance to visitors.  They are also responsible for distributing bulletins and other communications and receiving the offertory collection. Call (617-696-0120) or email the rectory.

Pine Street Inn/Shattuck OUTREACH: Each Friday evening, on a 6-week rotation, a group visits the Shelter to serve ice cream and desserts donated by parishioners.  The outreach team also sponsors a summer barbecue and Christmas party for the Shelter guests. Call (617-833-7063) or email Jed & Sonia Doherty.  You can find schedules and more info here.

HOSPITALITY: Members of this ministry plan and arrange for refreshments for different meetings, events, and social functions sponsored by the Parish.

LECTORS: proclaim the Word of God at the celebration of the Mass to assist the congregation in worship.  By presenting the readings clearly, lectors enable the community to gain a deeper spiritual understanding of the Scriptures. Call (617-698-0328) or email Bob Sheffield.

LITURGICAL DANCE: An expression of prayer & worship through dance – rehearsals are scheduled as needed for dance at the Noon Mass and special liturgies.Call (617-312-0652) or email France Neff   

MUSIC (Adult Choir): Led by the Music Director, the Adult Choir provides liturgically appropriate hymns and service music for regular worship at the 10:15 Mass, as well as additional repertoire for communion meditation, and special feast days. Call (617-354-5821) or email Peter Watchorn    

 

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION: The Religious Education program is responsible for providing a foundation in beliefs and practices for the youth of our Parish.  We teach Catholic curriculum and prepare our young people for First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation.  We also provide monthly family liturgies and fellowship, as well as seasonal family activities and catechesis.

RESPECT LIFE of MILTON (a Milton Catholic Collaborative Ministry): This group meets monthly to discuss and take action on issues surrounding the sanctity of life, from conception until natural death.  Call (617-696-9685) or email Jim Kackley 

RCIA TEAM: This team, along with the pastor and pastoral associate, provides instruction, spiritual formation and support to those who may seek reception into full Communion with the Catholic Church.   The program runs weekly from the fall until the Easter Vigil. SACRISTANS: The Sacristans are a team of parishioners who prepare the sanctuary for the Eucharistic celebration.  They are also responsible for the maintenance of all vestments, linens and sacred vessels used in our liturgies.

WORSHIP & SPIRITUAL LIFE: This committee seeks to foster genuine spiritual renewal in our Parish.  They bring us the parish Bible study, the Lenten supper speaker series, the Lazarus Mass of Remembrance and other events.  Call (617-696-3154) or email Paul McCarthy  

YOUTH MINISTRY: Youth Ministry provides a Christ-centered, spiritual and social community for junior high and high school youth.  This ministry helps young people develop as catalysts and ministers for strengthening the Parish and in outreach to the local community.  The youth minister is always looking for assistance and support from adults in the parish.
High School group meets on Thursday nights, 7-9 in the youth room.

Fellowship: Take a turn as host. Make coffee and accept food donations.  Set up and clean up. Signup as your are available. Great way to get kids involved with you!  Contact Mike and Peg Reardon.
